My name is John McAlister.  My great great grandfather was Howell Aurelius Tarver. He was born February 5, 1843 in Hickman County, Kentucky which is south of Paducah. He died June 8, 1896. He was father to my great grandmother Emma (Tarver) Floyd.  He was grandfather to my grandmother Audrey (Floyd) Bailey and great grand father to my mother, Ronelta Jean (Bailey) McAlister.

He lived in western Kentucky in Hickman County.  He enlisted at Columbus, Ky, June 15th, 1861 and mustered into service at Camp Boon, Tenn., July 5th, 1861.  The 2nd Kentucky Volunteers, C.S.A., were part of the Breckenridge Division of Hardee's Corpse, Army of Tennessee.  He survived the war but lost his leg at the Battle of Chickamauga.

If you have an ancestor who was part of this Company A, you will find his name on the roster below which was handed down to me through my family from my great great grandfather Tarver.  The picture has been divided up into two shots in order be able to read it better.
